                  Vacancy PhD student Music Retrieval

The department of Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University
is looking for a PhD-student music retrieval for the project "C-Minor"
(Cognition-based Music Information Notation-Oriented Retrieval).

The objective of this project is to develop algorithms for cognition and
perception based music retrieval from large collections of notated music.
More specifically our aim is to address the following three fundamental
issues in music retrieval:
   * To extract perceptually and cognitively relevant musical features.
   * To develop efficient algorithms to match those features.
   * To design a relevance feedback mechanism for music retrieval.

We ask:
   * MSc in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or any
     other relevant discipline.
   * Proven affection with, and knowledge of, music.
