4 x Postdoctoral and PhD Positions in Multi-Camera Video Analysis
Queen Mary Vision Laboratory, Queen Mary University of London, UK
Applications are invited for four research positions (2 postdoctoral
research assistants and 2 PhD studentships) to develop people tracking,
consistent labelling, action categorisation and behaviour monitoring
across a distributed network of CCTV and embedded smart cameras for
global situational awareness in a wide area. This work is part of a UK
EPSRC and MOD DSTL funded project BEWARE
(http://www.dcs.qmul.ac.uk/~sgg/BEWARE/) in which Queen Mary will be
collaborating with a number of government and industrial partners
including MOD DSTL / SASD, Home Office HOSDB, Ultra Electronics,
SmartCCTV, Tyco Fire and Integrated Solutions, and Liverpool City Watch.
Successful candidates will be based at the Queen Mary Vision Laboratory
working with Prof Shaogang Gong and Dr Tao Xiang in the Department of
Computer Science, Queen Mary University of London. Queen Mary Vision
Laboratory (http://www.dcs.qmul.ac.uk/research/vision/) currently
undertakes research on video behaviour analysis and abnormality
detection, people detection and tracking in crowded scenes, video object
super-resolution for face recognition, human facial expression and body
language modelling , video-audio avatar, dynamic scene background
removal, and object categorisation.
The two postdoctoral positions are for 3 years starting as soon as
possible. Candidates should have a PhD in computer vision or machine
learning (or at least have submitted yours thesis and is waiting for the
viva). Salary is in the range of £27003-31739 per annum inclusive,
depending on qualifications and experience. The two PhD studentships are
open to nationals of both UK/EU and non-EU countries and will pay a
stipend of approximately £14,600 per annum plus fees.
