IMVIP 2007 - The International Machine Vision and Image Processing
Conference, will take place from the 5th to the 7th of September 2007 at
the National University of Ireland Maynooth. IMVIP 2007 is the main
conference of the Irish Pattern Recognition and Classification Society
(IPRCS), a member body of the International Association for Pattern
Recognition (IAPR). The conference brings together theoreticians and
practitioners, industrialists and academics, from the numerous related
disciplines involved in the processing and analysis of image-based
information.

This year we have an exciting programme including 38 original high
quality contribution on topics including image processing, scene
analysis, applications and systems integration, medical and biomedical
imaging, to name a few. The programme will also include two
distinguished invited speakers: Dr. Hiroshi Sako (Chief Researcher,
Central Research Laboratory of Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) and Prof.
John Leonard (Associate Professor of Mechanical and Ocean Engineering,
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA). Dr. Sako's
talk, "Recognition Strategies in Machine Vision Applications", will give
a first-hand view of the past, present and future challenges faced by
machine vision application engineers. Prof. Leonard's talk, "Challenges
for Autonomous Mobile Robots", will provide an overview of MIT's entry
in the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge.
