The Computer-Aided Diagnosis group of the Image Sciences Institute is
looking for
PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and a scientific programmer
for the project "Dynamic Computer-Aided Diagnosis".
The Image Sciences Institute is one of the largest medical imaging
research institutes in Europe and is housed in the University Medical
Center Utrecht, the Netherlands. More information can be found on our
web site
http://www.isi.uu.nl
Computer algorithms that analyze medical image data to detect
abnormalities such as tumors have recently become commercially
available and are already widely used: Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD)
is one of the most rapidly expanding areas in medical imaging. Current
systems do, however, not yet operate at the level of human experts.
Furthermore, digitization and screening have created huge databases of
images, while CAD systems are typically trained with only a limited
amount of images, in the order of several hundreds. How to effectively
deal with training databases that are much larger, and only partially
annotated, is not known. These issues will be addressed in this
project.
We are looking for researchers with a strong interest in image
processing and/or pattern recognition and medical applications. More
information about the project, the positions and how to apply can be
found on
