POST-DOCTORAL POSITION (CDD 18 months renewable)

STARTING DATE : No later than March 2008

SALARY (net income): From 2275 to 2500 Euros /month, according to the
professional experience.


POSITION LOCATION: IMEDIA Research Group, INRIA Paris-Rocquencourt

 
MISSION: The objective of this job is to develop innovative visualisation
and 
interaction tools devoted to navigation on large multimedia databases that 
may contain images or audio-visual documents, which could involve user 
interaction and feedback. The aim of a visualisation tool, in such a case,
is 
to provide the user a visual representation of the whole database, or of a 
part of the database, adapted both to the typology of the data (image,
audio, 
video) and to the user's goal (navigation, query, annotation, etc.). This 
representation will be based on the features automatically extracted from
the 
data.
This work will be done within the European VITALAS project (Video & image 
Indexing and retrieval in the Large Scale, see http://vitalas.ercim.org/ )


ENVIRONMENT: IMEDIA team studies and develops content-based image indexing 
techniques, interactive search and retrieval methods for browsing large 
multimedia databases by content. We focus on the intelligent access by
visual

SKILLS:
Strong background in  HCI  and/or in information visualisation
Programming experience in C++ and Java in linux environment
Engineer or PhD in Computer Science,
