The Department of Computer Science at University College London (UCL)
seeks applications for an academic faculty position in the area of
computer graphics and virtual environments, at the rank of Lecturer,
Senior Lecturer, or Reader (the first equivalent to Assistant Professor
and the latter two equivalent to Associate Professor in the US system),
commensurate with qualifications and experience. We are looking for
internationally outstanding researchers who also have an enthusisam for
teaching and communicating ideas.
The Department has broad strength in computer science with a strong
orientation to 'experimental computer science'. The Virtual Environments
and Computer Graphics (VECG) group works in the broad area of virtual
environments, in particular real-time global illumination, image-based
rendering, 3D interaction, tracking, real-time systems and augmented
reality. The group conducts fundamental graphics algorithms and systems
research and underpins this with user studies to evaluate the impact
that technological developments have.
We expect new faculty to contribute to the group and the Department's
research profile, complementing existing work and skills. We would
highlight areas such as computer animation, modelling, video-based
rendering, perception of graphics and networked graphics.
The Department has excellent laboratory facilities to support research,
including a tracked CAVE-like facility, a motion capture system, a
variety of high-end image generators, haptics systems, physiological
monitoring equipment and eyetrackers. There are also strong
collaborative networks across college in vision-related sciences,
cultural heritage, urban modelling, psychology and cognitive neuroscience.
