12-month Marie Curie Fellowship for an Experienced (Post-doc) Computer Scientist at Philips Research, Eindhoven, The Netherlands

As part of the EC 6th Framework Marie Curie Industry-Academia Partnership Programme, Philips Research (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) and Sabanci University (Istanbul, Turkey) are offering a 12-month post-doc fellowship in the IronDB project. The IRonDB project deals with MR-based brain image analysis, indexing, and retrieval for neurodegenerative diseases. It has an ambitious goal of helping solve the mysteries of occurrence and progression of neurodegenerative diseases by automatically processing and analyzing large brain MR datasets.   

We are looking for a talented, motivated, and team-oriented researcher who can also take initiatives in setting the future directions of the research and enjoy being a part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team. The candidate will be joining two current Marie Curie fellows in the IRonDB project and will be regularly interacting with the multi-site project team, designing novel algorithms, testing them on large datasets, and writing patents and manuscripts. Advanced programming skills and experience in, at least, any one of the following technical areas are required:

   Image-based indexing, search, and retrieval
   Data Mining
   Machine learning
   MR image analysis 

The researcher will be located at the world headquarters of Philips Research in Eindhoven, The Netherlands that is situated in the recently established High Tech Campus Eindhoven where a truly open, international, and multi-disciplinary environment pervades. The candidate will be fully funded by the European Commission and the stipend will be commensurate with the experience level according to the EU regulations. The start date for the position is flexible, but the dates between September and December 2008 are preferable.
