Research Assistantship and PhD in ECE with a focus on
EEG-based Noninvasive Brain Computer Interface Design
at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA

** Please forward to highly qualified students who may be interested **

Individuals with excellent background and credentials who are interested
in pursuing a PhD in statistical signal processing and machine learning
towards the design of a noninvasive brain computer interface (BCI) in a
5-year translational research project funded by NIH are invited to apply
for a graduate research assistant position under the supervision of
Deniz Erdogmus in the Department of ECE at Northeastern University (NU).

Qualifications required for this position include: a solid understanding
of statistical modeling and inference, signal processing, machine
learning, and pattern recognition; a strong background in relevant fields
such as linear algebra, optimization, probability theory; a strong
background in Matlab and C++, as well as experience with real-time data
acquisition and signal processing. Candidates with prior research
experience, preferrably in a relevant topic, evidenced by an MS thesis
and publications in high quality international journals and conferences
will be given higher consideration.

This project is in collaboration with researchers at the Oregon Health
and Science University, Portland, OR. Funding for this RA position is
available for up to 5 years starting immediately and continued funding
will depend on satisfactory performance of the RA and the availability of
continued funding by NIH. The stipend is competitive.

Northeastern University is located in Boston, MA and is in close proximity
to many outstanding academic and cultural activities, and other major
cities and outdoor activities in New England are easily accessible. To
