Postdoctoral Position Available in "Remote Multimodal Biometrics for  
the Maritime Domain"

The Computer Vision Lab at UCSD invites applications for a Postdoc  
available immediately, with a maximum duration of 3 years.  The  
position is funded by a grant from the Office of Naval Research MURI  
program, encompassing an international group of researchers from U.  
Maryland, Columbia U., UCSD, U. Colorado, U. Southampton and U.  
Queensland.

Topics pertinent to the project include imaging in maritime  
environments, detection of people (and their body parts), measurement  
of biometrics, and empirical evaluation.  Proposed approaches will be  
evaluated on a collection of shore-to-ship, ship-to-shore, on-ship,  
UAV-to-ship and ship-to-ship databases.

The available position at UCSD covers the areas of unconstrained Face  
Recognition from video and Fingerprint Recognition with an emphasis on  
challenging acquisition environments (due to poor illumination, low  
resolution, long distances, bad weather, moving platforms, etc.).

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
- PhD degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- Extensive programming experience in Matlab, C++, OpenCV, etc.
- Excellent skills in technical writing and presentation.
- Strong publication record in computer vision and biometrics, ideally  
dealing with face and fingerprint.
