Professor of "computer science and imaging" at ESIEE Paris, France
ESIEE is an institute of technology specialised in computer science and
electrical engineering, ranked in the top 5 in France for undergraduate
engineering teaching institutions immediately accessible after high-school.
This permanent position is associated with ESIEE's informatics department.
The position will be filled starting from september, 2009.
The successful applicant will take part in both graduate and
undergraduate teaching at ESIEE as well as carry out collaborative and
independent research.
The position requires strong communication and teaching skills as well
as a keen interest in instructional theory and practice. Courses will be
part of ESIEE's computer science and engineering curriculum. The
majority of pupils will be undergraduate engineering students, but the
applicant can also expect to teach Masters, Honours and PhDs. Teaching
duties consist not only of standard lectures and tutorials, but also of
supervision of short or medium-term projects carried out by small
student teams, supervision of individual students in industrial internships.
Research will be carried out within the "image" team belonging to the
Gaspard-Monge Computer Science Lab. of University Paris-Est. This
laboratory is a joint structure of Université de Marne-la-Vallée (UMLV),
ESIEE and CNRS, the latter being the main public research body in
France. ESIEE and UMLV are part of the same campus and are linked to the
ADVANCITY competitive fund.
The appointee will require a strong interest and track record in
scientific research, more particularly in domains such as virtual
reality, discrete geometry, computer graphics, computational geometry,
3D modelling, 3D imagery, image synthesis. Application fields like
virtual urban planning, housing, building and civil works will be
considered.
Owing to the international nature of this appointment, teaching can be
in English.
