Computer-Aided Diagnosis R&D Group within Image and Knowledge Management
at Siemens has a proven record of delivering trend-setting computer
vision, pattern recognition and machine learning software applications
for clinicians and other medical professionals. We currently seek
motivated Ph.D. students in the areas of computer vision, medical image
processing, pattern recognition and machine learning. 

As an intern team-member, you will join CAD's world-class team of
scientists in solving exciting and challenging research problems with
real-world medical applications. The ideal candidate should major in
computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or a
related field. He or she should have experience in C/C++ and/or Matlab.
Prior experience in medical image analysis is a plus, but not required. 

Internship requirements 

Academic Degree: PhD Track, with Masters Coursework Completed 
Major: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering 
Minimum GPA: 3.0 
Technical skills: Computer vision techniques from theory to application,
especially 3D processing techniques for analysis and visualization,
basic experimental design and statistics understanding, C++ and Matlab
proficiency, basic data management skills for managing images and ground
truth databases, scientific writing to document techniques and results 
Internship duration: Summer (At least 12 weeks) 
Preferred hours/week: 40 hours/week 
Location:  Malvern, PA
Compensation: This internship offers a competitive hourly wage. 

Internship responsibilities 

* Conduct original research in medical image processing under
supervision of a research scientist 
* Problem Description and solution requirements 
* Solution Formulation in terms of algorithm description and prototype
implementation 
* Validation of prototype implementation and refinement 
* Documentation of validated solutions
