[Imageworld] PhD position at ETH

A full-time position is available from 1st September 2010 at the  
Photogrammetry and Remote
Sensing group (Prof. Dr. Konrad Schindler) of the Institute of Geodesy  
and Photogrammetry,
ETH Zurich.

Scientific Assistant/PhD Candidate (100%)

The main task will be the participation in current research projects  
and teaching duties of the
group within the curriculum Geomatic Engineering and Planning.The  
successful candidate will
undertake independent high-level scientific research in  
photogrammetry, remote sensing and
computer vision aiming at a Ph.D. thesis within approximately 4 years.  
We offer good supervi-
sion, all necessary infrastructure, an international team, and we  
actively encourage continuous
education, e.g. through participation in conferences and courses. The  
teaching duties include
support and supervion of students in lectures, exercises and labs,  
seminar projects as well
as Master- and Bachelor-Theses, and exams. Bachelor courses are in  
German, Master courses in
English. Master- and Bachelor-Theses can be freely defined to fit your  
research interests, within
the rules of the Department.

Candidates should hold a university degree (Master/Diploma in  
Engineering or equivalent
degree) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Geomatic Engineering, Computer  
Science, Electrical or Elec-
tronic Engineering, Mathematics, Physics). Further requirements are a  
high degree of initiative,
good mathematics and programming skills, and proficiency in English  
(written and spoken).
Knowledge of German is an additional advantage.
