Postdoctoral Positions at NICTA Canberra.
NICTA (National ICT Australia -- nicta.com.au ) is looking to fill two or
more postdoctoral positions
to work with Richard Hartley at the Canberra Laboratory.
NICTA is a governments funded research institute with centres in Canberra,
Sydney,
Melbourne and Brisbane. Computer Vision is one of six main discipline areas
in NICTA. The Vision group is centred in Canberra, and has close ties with
groups
in Sydney and Brisbane, and also with the Australian National University
(ANU), which
is located close-by. The Canberra Lab is also the centre of NICTA's Machine
Learning group. At present the Canberra computer vision group comprises
about 12 to 15 staff, along with many graduate students.
The postdoctoral positions will be for 2 or 3 years, and the salary will be
competitive
internationally. The subject of the research will be somewhat open, but
should relate
to some of Prof. Hartley's current interests, which include among others
optimization
methods (discrete and continuous) with applications in Vision. Other
related
projects in the Canberra Lab of NICTA include image processing and
understanding
for vision-impaired people (Bionic Eye project), hyperspectral imagery,
roadside imaging
for inventory management and recognition.
There are close ties with the ANU, and opportunities for sharing supervision
of graduate
students. Applicants with strong skills either in programming, or with
mathematical /
theoretical skills, or both, are encouraged to apply.
Interested people should send a CV to Richard Hartley at
Richard.Hartley at nicta.com.au or
speak directly with him at CVPR in Colorado Springs.
