[Imageworld] Flowchart image interpretation task in CLEF-IP 2012

CLEF-IP is an evaluation campaign organised as a Lab of the CLEF 
conference. It evaluates information retrieval for tasks in the 
intellectual property domain. Four new tasks have been developed for 
2012, and participants can choose to participate in one or more tasks.

In 2012, one of the tasks involves the interpretation of images of 
flowcharts in patents. Participants in this task will be asked to 
extract the information in these images and return it in a predefined 
textual format.

Other tasks are:
* Passage retrieval starting from patent claims (patentability or 
novelty search): The topics in this task will be based on the claims in 
patent application documents. Given a claim, the participants will be 
asked to retrieve relevant documents in the collection and (optionally) 
mark out the relevant passages in these documents.

* Matching a patent claim to the description in a single document 
(Pilot): Given one claim in a patent application document, the 
participants will be asked to indicate those paragraphs in the 
description section of the same application document that best explain 
the contents of the given claim.

* Chemical Structure Recognition Task. The topics in this fourth task 
will be patent pages in TIFF format. Participants will be asked to 
identify the location of the chemical structures depicted on these pages 
and, for each of them, return the corresponding structure in a MOL file 
(a chemical structure file format).
