Postdoctoral Research Position within Image Analysis at Department of
Computer Science, University of Copenhagen, Denmark


The Image Group at the Department of Computer Science (DIKU), University of
Copenhagen, Denmark, seeks a postdoctoral researcher within X-ray Image
Analysis of High Quality Furniture Wood for the project "Self-adaptive
cutting of wood for furniture production based on on-line low-E X-ray
characterization" (TREEDFURNITURE). The project is centered around
technology development related to the quality assessment of wood plank.
X-ray imaging forms a convenient basis to serve as qualitative measurement
of wood quality in high quality furniture industry. Specifically, the
postdoctoral researcher will work within image analysis ultimately aiming
for on-line classification of the wood quality on the basis of x-ray
measurements. The tentative start date is 1 June 2012 or as soon as possible
thereafter. The position is for 13 months and can be prolonged by up to 3
months in case the candidate wishes to undertake teaching at the Department
of Computer Science.


The candidate is required to have: 


·         a PhD in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or
similar

·           a solid mathematical background

·         experience in image analysis

·         an excellent scientific track record, including at least one
publication as first author in a high-quality, peer-reviewed conference
proceeding or journal

·         good programming skills in C/C++
